- sho-minamimoto comment "Minamimoto is a dark skinned man with yellow eyes and violet-ash hair who dresses in trendy black clothing with a red bandana underneath his cap. He becomes the Game Master in Chapter 2 of the game. He is very intelligent, with an obsession for mathematics and building pillars of junk, but also has an even more violent, cruel and heartless side to him. He is one of the highest ranking Reapers, as well as the most successful, but at times acts as a messenger despite his ambition to one day become the Composer of the Game. - sho-tsukioka comment "Boy #14 Akira Tsukioka is the sole homosexual in the class. In the novel and manga, he is member of Kiriyama's street gang. His father owns a gay bar and he often entertains in it. He views himself as if he is a woman inside, and is incredibly narcissistic. After he witnesses Kiriyama killing off the other members of the street gang, Akira, being skilled at stealth, devises a plan to follow Kiriyama around until Kiriyama kills everyone off, then killing Kiriyama, thus becoming the winner. However, Kiriyama realizes that Akira is stalking him, and tricks Akira into lingering in a Forbidden Zone. His collar explodes (snapping off the upper half of Akira's head), killing him instantly. Shoei is Mio's closest childhood friend and the scion of a very wealthy family, although Mio initially doesn't recall their past together. His father is the Omori family's landlord. He is popular, athletic, intelligent and handsome, adored by many girls in school, despite his cruel, cold demeanor. He is deeply in love with Mio. He manipulates events so that Mio is first forced to work in his home as a maid, then to live there. Spoiled and extremely wealthy, he lacks in compassion, consideration and empathy towards others. Mio later takes it upon herself to re-educate him to be a better person. (Source: Wikipedia)".

- shogo-kawada comment "Boy #5 Shougo Kawada, portrayed as a loner within the class ranks, is a transfer student. He is put in Class B about two months before the program takes place. He is the winner of a previous program, some three years prior. Shougo is a transfer student in all three versions. In the novel and manga Shougo, who was from Kobe Second District Junior High School in Kobe in Hyougo Prefecture, was put in Shirowa Junior High School's Class 3-B in Shiroiwa, Kagawa Prefecture a few months before the Program. In the film he is a transfer from Kobe Number 5 Junior High School who does not appear on the scene until after the rest of the class has woken up on the Island; in the film the rest of the class is from the Kanagawa Prefecture instead. In the novel, he is described as having a "body built like a middleweight boxer's." His hair is described as having "hair cropped so short he looked like a monk" and had a "long scar from what appeared to be a knife wound [which] ran over his left brow, and...two round scars next to each other on his left shoulder [that] looked like gunshot wounds." He has fought on the Program, which held his class, 3-C, one year before (three years in the film) and won it. He was the son of a doctor, but in the film he also says his father was a fisherman and a chef. In the manga, the reader sees a scene in which he treats a baby suffering from burns and is very harsh to the already distressed mother. Shougo also sometimes mentions a girl called Keiko Onuki who was in the last program with him. In the manga, she was the one who presented him the bird caller as a gift. In the film Shougo is given a Franchi SPAS-12 shotgun at the start of the Program, whereas in the novel and manga he gets a Remington 870. Due to his past experiences he knows what the best action at certain times and is very organized. In the novel, on the first night before meeting Shuya and Noriko he raids the town's supply store and walks around verifying locations that are marked on the map; he also sees Shinji Mimura in the town on the first night, but he ignores Mimura. He meets Shuya Nanahara and Noriko Nakagawa early in the first morning, after Kyoichi Motobuchi attacks Shuya with a revolver and saves them by shooting Kyoichi. In the novel and manga, Shougo joins up with the two of them immediately after Kyoichi's attack; in the film they work together later. Shougo shoots Kaori Minami dead in the manga. He treats Noriko for a fever and helps her and Shuya get off the Island. He looks after Noriko while Shuya is away at the Lighthouse, the hideout of several of the female students, after he (Shuya) was shot by Kazuo Kiriyama. Shougo is hardened to the game and knows when things are likely to turn from bad to worse, and he also knows what to do at times and where to go. At the end, he kills Kiriyama, but is grievously wounded during the fight, and dies of his wounds on the boat on the way back to the mainland the next day. In the novel and manga he manages to kill the program instructor (Kinpatsu Sakamochi in the novel, Yonemi Kamon in the manga). In both versions, the instructor dies when Shougo impales the instructor in the neck with a pencil. In the novel, Shougo dies of a neck wound, while in the manga he dies of a stomach injury. Although the movie does not specify a critical point of his injuries, he might have died either due to loss of blood or sepsis, as he was shot multiple times. -- Prior to the events of the film, manga and novel, Shougo Kawada was not the combat-hardened survivalist that he is in the present game. His personality differs in the three versions. In the novel and manga, he is quite proficient in first aid, as his father is a doctor, appears to be quite intelligent although slightly unsympathetic. In the film, not much is known of his life before he went through the Program, only that he learned several skills from his father such as cooking and how to drive a motor boat. His relationship with Keiko also differs. In the flashback sequences in the novel and manga, he is in a relationship with her, and while they seem to be a happy couple most of the time, he upsets her frequently with his unsympathetic nature. One most notable incident was when he felt no ounce of pity when a couple had their child taken from them as they were guilty of stealing money. This happened the day before he was taken to the Program. In the film, it is not known if Keiko and Shougo were really a couple; they care for each other in a similar way Shuya cares for Noriko in a deliberate parallel by the film makers. -- In the novel and manga, Shougo did not win by luck. He racked up the highest body count in the whole game, which took place in a sectioned off section of a city projects, whilst searching for Keiko (believing that he was killing to protect her) first by stabbing a boy with a katana, and then killing a girl by shooting her when she had fired at him and missed. Over the rest of the game he killed 10 more students (throwing one out a window), and was cut above his eyebrow, which left a scar that is visible even in his second game. In the novel, it is stated that she died before meeting Shougo and that he stayed at the location of her death for quite some time (he claims it was because "she died a horrible death"). After he kills Kazuo, Shougo lies to Shuya and Noriko by stating that he never had a relationship with Keiko; in the novel and manga, he states that the girl in the photograph is a lady named Kyoka Shimazaki, who he says lives in Kobe. Shougo lies about "Shimazaki" to fool Kinpatsu Sakamochi since he knows Sakamochi listens in on conversations. In the manga, later on, Shougo kills another boy by shooting him in his stomach. This however, was witnessed by his girlfriend Keiko, who is held at gunpoint by one of the remaining male players. He believes that Keiko should be with someone who cares about her, as he believes Shougo does not, and seems to have lost his mind. Shougo just smiles and pretends he does not care, and says that he has already killed 13 people, and is playing to win. Shougo then points out to him that he has not taken the gun off safety, and then shoots him in the head and kills him. When Keiko asks him if what he says was true, he says that while he did kill 13 people, he is planning on shooting himself, letting Keiko win and beating the game (as he says, "Loopholes, eh?"). However, Keiko points the gun at him and threatens to kill him. It causes Shougo to react, and shoot Keiko in the head and kill her. As he mourns her, Shougo finds out she was not aiming at him, but at the other last remaining contestant behind him. She tries to kill him, but he dodges the shot and kills her. Shougo (now the winner) is taken from the projects, recovers in a hospital, and goes back to his home, where he finds out his father died when he tried to fight back against the soldiers who told him Shougo was in the Program. At the beginning of the series, Rei doesn't really seem to have much of an attachment to her, saying that him and Sei only really relied on each other and always have. Later on in the series it was revealed that Shoko was actually very schizophrenic. She often said strange things to Rei and Sei, seriously threatened people who remotely hurt them in any way, and even killed a dog in front of them one time because to her it seemed to be scaring them. Covered in the dog's blood, she extended her arms out for an embrace from Rei and Sei, but they were extremely scared of her. One night Rei and Sei woke up and went in her room to find her hanging from a noose, dead. Rei has tried to block out what truly happened to her and generally thinks that she died from an illness because all he really remembers is always going to the hospital to see her (which really wasn't a regular hospital, but a psychiatric one).".

- shou-hazama comment "The protagonist of the series. Apparently an easygoing, reckless and somehow comical high-school student known only due to his incapability to arrive on time for classes, he is in fact the result of an experiment made years before by a powerful crime syndicate lord. The man, dying of old age, tried to use medical knowledge and advanced technology to revive himself as a youth, and thus create a cloning facility where he experimented with cloning humans and transferring memories and experience from a mind to another, so as to be reborn as an ultimate being. His plans failed however, as he died before his project could be brought into fruition, and thus the numerous Shou clones where all scattered far and wide in Japan, each of them focusing on a single area of expertise (be it stunt-driving, surgery, military training, and so on), until two of them encountered each other by chance, thus prompting all clones to reunite and, thanks to the shared experience of them all, vow to redeem Japan and destroy what they perceived as evil, in a similar way of a terror group. While their methods are indeed brutal and extremely shocking, one thing has to be noted: the Shou clones all follow something of a code of conduct named one man, one kill, meaning only the chosen target will be put to death, no matter how many clones would be sacrificed in the process (one such example was the assassination of Takeo Tsuruta, where for taking his life 80 clones died). Obstacles such as police or bodyguards are simply evaded or subdued without deadly force. Also, all the Shou clones are aided in their acts by a peculiar, demonic mask which not only conceals their identity, but also serves as an advanced technological equipment. The mask when donned drills itself into the wearer's skull and links to the brain, so as to assimilate all memories of that Shou and pass it on the others when he dies, normally after a killing. Also, to further prevent the world to understand who they really are, each mask injects a bomb into the head of a Shou on the brink of death, so as to blow his skull and thus prevent recognition, leaving only a headless body behind. Presenting themselves as terrorists, though making heavy use of costumes and even a cartoonish mascot nicknamed Aametsu-kun, the Akumetsu group (the Shou clones) aim at one thing only: to purge Japan of all whom they perceive as "evil-doers", that is, all those in a position of power who are corrupt and revel in such chaos as a mean to make easy money, or simply those who, while capable of making changes, refuse to do so and only complain. Their executions are always presented as some sort of a show, where usually the Akumetsu, dressed appropriately (from a race driver to a ghost to a businessman) interrogates, frames for their wrongdoings and in the end massacres its intended victims, often in much brutal fashion to which follows his even more grisly death. Without sermons or pleads, the Akumetsu are also very specific in explaining their motives and objectives to society, and while labeled terrorists by the media and the people, they also gained support from the masses in their bloody quest of disposing of the "evil-doers". To most of them, Akumetsu became not only the name of the "masked men", but also a moniker for the killing of those to be blamed for the crisis.".

Toudou was one of the rehab guys to help out JJ when he was brought to Japan and became something of a parental figure to him. But despite his peaceful outlook, he’s a skilled shooter and was even in King Caesar at one point, but quit after his wife and daughter got caught up in a fight. He's also an information broker and weapons dealer as well as a middleman for the crime syndicates. Toudou has a lot of connections, so he’s not one to mess with. If he doesn’t like you, you won’t be able to survive in the society. If you get on his good side, he can recommend you good jobs. There are numerous hitmen who sleep with him for jobs. - shouin-suzuka comment "A student who runs against Kagawa for the president position during the student council elections. His father is mentioned to be a famous politician. To most people he appears as a modest and charming student with good grades and influence. Truth is that he is a former delinquent whose goal is to remove all other delinquents from Mon Shiro (except his team candidates). He and his fellow candidates fools the students into making them believe that they have nothing to with the dirty campaign against Kagawa's group and even manipulates Adachi and her group. After getting beaten by Adachi and realizing who she is, they stop their dirty tactics and concede to Kagawa's group. Since then, he has been on good terms with the other characters. ".
