He first appeared in Less is Morrison and he returned to compete in the Ever Grande Conference. He and Ash became friends and they declared themselves as rivals for the tournament. Morrison has a very spirited personality and he likes to challenge other people to almost everything. Due to this, he always challenges Ash to various events such as Pokémon battles or even a food eating contest. Like Ash, he too is determined and never gives up in battle. In Choose it or Lose It!, Ash and Morrison battled in the Ever Grande Conference. Morrison was confused and even depressed to battle his new friend; he refused to fight at first, and let two of his Pokémon faint, but when Ash told him he wouldn't be angry at him and that he wanted Morrison to do his best, he battled with full spirit. The battle eventually came down to both Morrison and Ash having one Pokémon left, and in the end he was defeated by Ash. [credit to bulbapedia]".

- masamune-date-5f8f0515-40cb-4857-bde2-6213fadc17e0 comment "Bontenmaru is the second member of the Shiseiten to appear in the story. Arrogant and in love with his own legend, he constantly reminds everyone that he will become the ruler of the world and that both Tokugawa Ieyasu and the Mibu Clan are going to be destroyed so that he can become Shogun, much to the ire and boredom of his traveling comrades. Nonetheless, he is a great friend as well as a fearsome foe. Bontenmaru suppresses a beast inside of him, and that's what most terrifying about him. His real name is Date Masamune, the "Oda Nobunaga of the north." His weapon of choice is a Bokken. He is so skilled with it that he is able to use it against a real sword, instinctively turning it at the last second so that it absorbs the blow of a sword but doesn't break. He is also capable of killing an enemy rather easily with a wooden sword. He can unleash the beast within himself using his Satsujintai fighting technique, in which he can enter a berserker rage and tear foes apart with his bare hands. He uses his great strength as a weapon in battle. He can effortlessly defeat small groups of Mibu warriors without getting hurt. His muscles are strong enough to stop blades from piercing his skin. He has a friendly rivalry with Kyo, and much of their time is spent glaring at each other and trying to establish dominance. His Satsujintai is a hand to hand fighting technique, and his most powerful technique is the Kosoga. He swings one fist upwards in an uppercut motion and another downwards to form a vertical pincer, which can be used to break bones or, at a later stage, create a massive crater. (This technique can also be used horizontally.)".

He is a cocky, ambitious warlord who tends to speak in a mixture of English and Japanese. He usually wields a single katana, but can store and fight with six swords at once (three in each hand, held between the fingers). He is also depicted in a rivalry with Sanada Yukimura. (Source: Wikipedia) Off the battlefield, Date's demeanor is surprisingly quiet, mild and thoughtful. He discusses plans and difficulties openly with his men and often weighs the counsel of his second in command, Kojuurou Katakura, before making major decisions. This inner personality contrast adds to his character's appeal. Also, his loyalty to his men is unmistakable.".

He deems others to be incompetent and often flings the line "Idiots!" or "Imbeciles!" to friend and foe alike. An independent thinker, he rarely listens to his vassals' advice and marches to his own rhythm. Though labeled as an upstart by his enemies, he is actually quite clever and is capable of turning the tides of the battle with his plots. He desires to explore the world and make a new society where numbers can rule. He values his wits, personal material wealth, and power, easily crushed when someone else surpasses him in these aspects. He is willing to bow down to others if it means keeping his ambitions alive. Masamune regrets missing his chance to become the land's unifier though he places importance on his survival as his means of respecting the dead. Though he puts up a tough front, Masamune appreciates it when people praise him. His way of showing it, however, isn't exactly conventional as he may respond by yelling an insult to his listener or treating them coldly. He is good friends with Magoichi: both believe that their firearms are the weapons of the future and share a love for money. He regards Kojūr as his living shadow. The young lord has never thought about life without him, and Masamune is considerably shocked by the danger of losing him. They may not always agree with one another yet the Date lord never doubts his retainer's boundless loyalty to him. Due to their contrasting beliefs, he shares mutually antagonizing ties with Kanetsugu. Masamune bluntly deems him to be a hypocrite who uses morals as an excuse to lead men into war. He isn't a fan of Kanetsugu's self-righteous nature and can't stand his preachings for very long. (Source: Koei Wikia)".

He follows Ginga wherever he goes to challenge him continually, losing almost everytime. Ginga and him often get into arguments over ridiculous things like the other's courage, or lack of courage. They will eventually pair up, with Yuu and Tsubasa, to represent Japan in the Big Bang Bladers tournament. Masamune/James had previously not been able to participate in Battle Bladers. He really likes a certain food shaped as a orange sticks that are extremely spicy. Everybody who eats some regrets it once their mouth burns, but he seems to be used to the taste. Ray Unicorno, Masamune's/James beyblade, can seemingly teleport by transforming itself into rays of green light, and reappearing elsewhere in the stadium. In battles and in practice, Masamune/James will never give up and keep working harder. His number one goal was to defeat Ginga, and he never stopped challenging him until he beat him. Afterwards, Ginga became better at controling Galaxy Pegasis though, and Masamune/James rejected his offer for a rematch after he saw how powerful the other's beyblade was though... Masamune/James has little self-restraint: if he disagrees with something, he will really not hesitate to say so, and he will be overly visual about it, shaking his arms around to illustrate his anger. He plays on the fears of others to possess and use them until he takes over their soul. He believes only the strong survive and the weak live only to serve the strong. He developed this way of thinking when Tsubaki inherited the family's multiple weapon forms. He considers himself more worthy than her and believed that he should have gotten the multiple weapon forms. He later lets Tsubaki defeat and absorb him after he sees that she really does care about him. Compared to his friends, Masanori is the immature scattered-brain and the comic relief of the trio. Masanori is the loudest of the trio, easily voicing his every honest thought to everything addressed to him. In his mind, Masanori is awesome and popular, beaming with pride of his self-image. He is especially proud for being "stupidly strong." He can't be bothered to sweat over complicated matters and would rather settle all disagreements through brute, unyielding strength. Whoever wins a fight, he believes, has the right to get their way. Though not one for etiquette or subtlety, Masanori's loyalty to Hideyoshi is just as strong as Mitsunari or Kiyomasa. He fondly calls Hideyoshi "Old Man" and proudly boasts any praise his lord gives him. Masanori extends the same respect to Nene, although he becomes sheepishly timid in front of her, afraid to incur one of her lectures. Both Hideyoshi and Nene believe his light-hearted nature can dispel Mitsunari and Kiyomasa from fighting all of the time. He treats Kiyomasa with fraternal respect yet regularly seems to be annoyed with Mitsunari, referring to him as "big-headed" for his helmet and for his arrogance. Masanori openly berates Mitsunari, but he will stop to a careening halt if Nene happens to overhear him. Since he isn't as concerned about status as his other "brothers," their flat reactions to his oafish antics is sometimes the only thing Mitsunari and Kiyomasa can agree upon. They bicker and fight all the time, but Masanori doesn't hold a heavy grudge against either one of them. Compared to the other two, Masanori seems trapped in the happier times of their childhood. He is the one who frequently mentions or mocks his friends for their embarrassing moments as children. Masanori also calls Mitsunari by his childhood name in his excitement. Sakon fondly addresses him, Kiyomasa and Mitsunari as the "three idiots," jokingly naming Masanori the dumbest of the group. (Source: Wikipedia)".

Despite winning the hearts of many girls and women, he is a very simple person with an affable demeanour, which is possibly what catches people off-guard about his personality and makes them warm up to him. Kida is an easy-going guy and appears foolhardy at times. He is 15 years old and is in class 1-B. Mikado says that Kida used to be very energetic in elementary school and describes him as being quite charismatic. Kida seems to know many of the residents of Ikebukuro and he functions as a guide to Mikado. He enjoys flirting with older girls and women although his passes usually aren't taken very well. He was the leader of the gang: Yellow Scarves. During his reign, he is referred as "Shogun" (i.e. "General") although he doesn't seem like to be referred to as that title. He is a very strong fighter as demonstrated during the coup of the Yellow Scarves; he took down several opponents with crowbar before collapsing due to a wound on his head. He left Ikebukuro with Saki at the end of the third novel, but joined the chat-room using alias "Bakyura" to keep in touch with Mikado. He is now working with Saki for Izaya. He returns during the eighth novel and Mikado tells Kida to stay away from him and not to get involved with the current affairs. (Source: Kida's profile from the 2nd DVD)".

- masaru-3d0f9e81-70ff-4b39-8fa6-e1bbf8ee5ec5 comment "Masaru, like his friends, was likely an orphan by the time he was acquired by the government of old Tokyo, along with a group of other children. At the time, this particular government was spearheading a secret project, supervised by Colonel Shikishima, to develop psychic powers, possibly for militaristic and political purposes. This was where Masaru met and befriended Kiyoko, Takashi, and Akira. The project ended when Akira grew too powerful to control and ascended to a higher plane of existence, leaving behind a psychic explosion that obliterated the old Tokyo in his wake. The survivors of this tragedy established Neo-Tokyo, while Kiyoko, Masaru, and Takashi, now referred to as the "Espers," were kept in prolonged isolation to prevent information about the clandestine project from being revealed to the public masses. The trio of children were constantly fed drugs to keep them from growing powerful as Akira, leading to premature aging while still young and developing physical handicaps; in Masaru's case, he developed polio and had to use a special wheelchair with a protective glass that accommodates his inability to walk (it is also used by Kiyoko as a transport in the anime). - masaru-aoki comment "Birthday: September 9, 1971 Homeland: Tokyo, Japan Occupation: Chuuka Soba chef Weight class: Lightweight Height: 171 cm (5'7") Reach: 171 cm (67") Style: Unorthodox boxing style Stance: Orthodox Stance Current affiliation: Kamogawa Boxing Gym Trainer: Shinoda He is an unorthodox lightweight boxer and one of the core members of the Kamogawa Boxing Gym. He, along with Kimura Tatsuya, are known to have been scouted into boxing by Takamura Mamoru, an individual they swore to defeat but eventually came to admire. Aoki was a punk from his childhood up through high school, at which point he encountered, fought and got beat down by Takamura Mamoru (who was then a middleweight with two wins under his belt). This loss motivated him to quit school along with his close friend Kimura Tetsuya to become boxers at Kamogawa gym. Although their initial goal was to land a clean hit on Takamura, they grew to love boxing and develop their own skills. Aoki became a clownish boxer whose signature techniques, the Frog Punch and Look-Away, eventually led him to a draw in a Japanese title match with then-champion Imae Katsuka. Currently in the series, Aoki had a going rivalry with Papaya Dachiu, the lightweight champion of the Philippnes, with whom he has drawn two consecutive matches. In a flashback shown in the series, Aoki is known for his troubled school life as a delinquent. He, along with long-time friend Kimura, were known to participate in countless fights and brawls with 'rival' schools. Throughout the series Aoki has shown a rather playful, immature, and mischievous personality- an attitude he reflects in his boxing matches where (due to his comparatively unexceptional boxing skills) he constantly thinks of methods to to deceive, confuse, or even ridicule opponents to a certain extent. A very long-running gag is that Aoki keeps revealing impressing talents, that sadly have no connection with boxing. Another one involves his girlfriend's friendship with Kumi that has made made contacting her far more easy than Ippo could ever hope, so Aoki often helps him out. His prankster personality extends to his own teammates and is most notably reflected in his attitude towards Makunouchi Ippo and (at times) Takamura Mamoru. Together with Kimura he is paired into the Aokimura duo by Itagaki Manabu. Aoki's taste in women is seen as a running joke in the Hajime no Ippo series where, in contrast to the tastes of his gym mates, Aoki places his preferences in women considered 'ugly' by everyone else. This may be due to an incident where he was cruelly dumped by a beautiful girl, psychologically turning him to prefer uglier girls. Even though he may have a taste for "ugly" girls, he is able to hold a girlfriend, Tomiko, longer then any of the other guys with the exception of Ippo but it remains to be seen if he and Kumi will ultimately be together. For the most part Aoki's fights in the series are not as major or impactive on the general storyline. However, in his most recent fight against Iga Shinobu (and his coach Kurita Baron, a former member of the Kamogawa Gym), Aoki was beaten badly and landed himself in the hospital. Given the option to retire with Kimura after their considerably lengthy careers Aoki refuses, and is determined then to stay in the lightweight class until he defeats Iga, whom he now considers his goal and rival. Takamura is then seen commenting on how stubborn both Aoki and Kimura are. Current Record Rank5 (JBC) Total fights: 23 Wins: 12 Wins by ko: 7 Losses: 8 Draws: 3".
